ART IN ACTION
In collaboration with architect Jonilla Dorsten
The visitor is the key to the magic of ART IN ACTION—a collaborative artwork.
ART IN ACTION is an interactive floor installation measuring 5 by 6 meters, made up of blocks (14 x 7 x 2.5 cm each) arranged in a vibrant, graphic pattern. It is centered around pattern, shape, color, and interaction, drawing from our natural tendency to recognize structures and organize our environment.
Visitors play a vital role in the evolution of the artwork. Instead of just watching, they are invited to actively engage—moving, stacking, and rearranging the blocks to create new patterns. This leads to a constantly shifting visual landscape—an artwork in motion.
Every 15 minutes, a Polaroid photo is taken from above, capturing the transformation of the installation. These photos document the changes and become a visual timeline of the work. More than just a record, they become an artwork in themselves—an "exhibition within an exhibition." In this way, the Polaroids serve both as documentation and as a piece of art.
